- Taking X-rays
- Recording the condition of your teeth and gums
- Teeth cleaning
- Discussing your goals for maintaining a healthy, beautiful smile
You and Dr. Cristescu will work together to create an individualized treatment plan, and she will gladly answer any questions and discuss any concerns you might have.
Technology at Eastside Family Dentistry
During your examination, we can shine an intraoral camera into your mouth and project the image onto a chairside monitor so that you can see what we’re examining! This technique lets us show you any areas of concern, along with giving you more information and having you ask any questions you might have about what you see.
For all of our imaging needs, we use digital radiography. With this technology, our patients are exposed to 90% less radiation than traditional x-ray images produce. We try to keep those in our care as healthy as we can by choosing to use these forms of x-rays!
We take oral cancer very seriously and believe that early diagnosis and prevention is the key to a healthy mouth and body. Many red or white oral lesions can be precancerous. By using a brush biopsy, we can test precancerous cells and detect oral cancer before it can start and spread.
Sometimes, dental decay occurs deep within the tooth, which makes it very difficult to diagnose. If Dr. Cristescu notices an area that looks suspicious, she can use DIAGNOdent to identify weakened areas in the structure of a tooth, even if it’s well-hidden. Dr. Cristescu or another trained member of our staff will shine a light on each of your teeth, which can detect 90% of caries. This technology is a viable alternative to more intrusive methods.
Using a laser allows us to reshape your gums and remove soft tissue to either improve esthetics or prevent infection such as gum disease.
We have an advanced sterilization center to properly disinfect each piece of equipment in our office. Dr. Cristescu and the team at Eastside Family Dentistry will NEVER put your health at risk. Your well-being is always our foremost priority at our Issaquah office.
We have a variety of comforts available for our patients, to help those in our care relax as they receive our quality dental treatments. When you enter our office help yourself to a beverage or snack. We also have xylitol gum and lollipops! Xylitol is a natural sugar found in wood that the bacteria cannot digest. Therefore less decay!! To help you unwind during your procedure we have neck pillows or back pillows available. As well as Ipods so you can listen to some relaxing music with your procedure. For those of you who like a little action during the procedure we have some movie glasses and a variety of dvd's to pick from. Just ask and we will make your visit as comfortable as we can!
Do you need additional help reducing stress during a dental appointment? If so, Dr. Cristescu may be able to recommend a sedation dentistry option, depending on your needs. For our patients who are mildly afraid of the dentist, we can provide nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, which is inhaled through a mask that covers the nose, leaving your mouth free to be treated. Nitrous oxide creates a euphoric feeling and can help ease your nerves during your procedure.
However, if your anxiety is more advanced, Dr. Cristescu may suggest oral conscious sedation, which is simply a pill to calm you. This is an oral medication you’ll take before your appointment, and you will be able to enjoy a worry-free visit to the dentist. Ask about either of these sedation dentistry procedures when you call to schedule your appointment.
Please call us today to arrange your examination. Dr. Cristescu sees patients from Issaquah, Bellevue, Seattle, Sammamish, Redmond, and other Washington cities. If this will be the first time you’re in our office, please take a moment to quickly review the information that we have on our new patient page.
