Frequently Asked Questions
We answer your questions about dental health!
Whether you are a new or an existing patient, you may have questions about our practice. You can read the answers to some of our most commonly asked questions below. If you don’t see the information you need here, you can also contact us at (425) 391-9200.
Do you accept dental insurance?
Yes. Our practice accepts five of the largest Preferred Provider (PPO) plans in the state as well as other insurance programs. We process all of your insurance claims. You can pay your co-pay or any other amount with cash, check, or Master Card, Visa, or American Express credit cards. Our practice also works with Care Credit, which offers low-interest patient payment plans.
What is the difference between store-bought whiteners and your in-office teeth whitening?
There are several differences. Most store-bought whiteners use a less concentrated bleaching solution than in-office teeth whitening products. While store-bought teeth whiteners will remove some stain, none have the ability to brighten your smile like the in-office teeth whitening products can.
At our practice, Dr. Alexandra Cristescu offers Zoom II, one of the best whitening systems available to dentists. With this product, we can bleach your teeth in a single, two-hour session. After your appointment, you will notice your teeth are a dazzling shade of white. The Zoom II teeth whitening systems also maintains the color and brightness of your smile over time.
Before you select any teeth whitening product, however, you should schedule an evaluation with Dr. Alexandra Cristescu. After examining your mouth, she will recommend the best method for whitening your teeth.
Can you show me what an "extreme makeover" will look like?
Yes. During your first consultation, Dr. Alexandra Cristescu will evaluate your smile and listen to the changes you have in mind. She will then take impressions of your mouth and create a diagnostic wax-up model to show you what your new smile will look like. You can even wear the wax-ups to see how they would look in your mouth. At each step of the treatment process, Dr. Alexandra Cristescu will make sure that you are completely satisfied with each enhancement.
How does Dr. Alexandra Cristescu stay up-to-date on the latest cosmetic and restorative techniques?
Dr. Alexandra Cristescu is extensively educated, but because dentistry is constantly changing, she does a number of things to stay up-to-date on all of the latest developments. She frequently attends advanced continuing education courses that focus cosmetic and restorative dentistry. She is part of several study clubs and is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Washington Dental Association, and Seattle King County Dental Society.
Are my silver fillings a health concern?
For years, silver was one of the best materials that dentists had to use for restoring teeth. Over time, however, silver fillings have been known to break down and leak mercury, a toxic element.
At our practice, Dr. Alexandra Cristescu uses only composite resin to fill cavities. Durable and long-lasting, these materials match the appearance of your natural teeth. These fillings also don’t discolor as do metal fillings and are completely safe.
If you are concerned about your fillings, schedule a consultation with Dr. Alexandra Cristescu. After she examines your mouth, she can answer your questions about the risks of silver fillings and suggest further treatment to protect your health.
What can I do about my stained and discolored teeth?
If your teeth are stained or discolored, you should schedule a consultation with Dr. Alexandra Cristescu. Since she believes each mouth is unique, she needs to examine your teeth in order to recommend the best treatment for you. Dr. Alexandra Cristescu may suggest our Zoom II two-hour teeth whitening session. If your teeth are cracked or chipped as well as discolored, she may recommend veneers or bonding.
What are dental implants?
A dental implant is a titanium screw that is placed in your jaw. This acts as an artificial substitute for tooth roots to anchor a single crown, bridge, or denture in your mouth.
Dental implants feel and act like natural teeth. You can do most things - laugh, talk, eat, and smile - as you did with your natural teeth because your dental implants are permanent. Unlike bridges or dentures, dental implants also maintain the gum tissue and structure of your face.
Anyone at any age can be a good candidate for undergoing dental implant surgery. If you are missing teeth and think dental implants may be right for you, schedule a consultation with Dr. Alexandra Cristescu. After examining your mouth, she will discuss the next treatment steps with you.
